About Us
The Lumby Food Bank is a registered charity and a 100% volunteer-run organization that serves Lumby, Lavington, and the surrounding area. The Lumby Food Bank is overseen by a local committee, with the existing President Robert Wilkinson at the helm.
We have a wonderful large network of support and we also support food other food banks in our area, as well as other non-profits, schools, our old age pensioner hall, and any community need, this encourages a win-win in our little community which ensures that we all have what we need so no one ever needs to go hungry!
We are very strongly supported by our businesses and community.
We are part of a food recovery program-a system in place that helps to utilize food from a connecting grocery store that would normally go into the landfill. However, perishable food recovery has unfortunately decreased by 90-95% with most food recovery foods going to the LOOP program who offer much of it to the farmers. A few small local business’ and farmers also offer support with products that we are in need of.
The Lumby Food Bank is a member of Food Banks of Canada and Food Banks BC.

We will never turn anyone away who is hungry and needs food, regardless of circumstances. We are here to lend a helping hand-to everyone!

You can be guaranteed that your tax-deductible donations are not going to be used for buildings, offices, or administration costs, we are strictly run by volunteers in a generously gifted building, and every single penny that you donate will go to where it is supposed to-to help feed anyone that needs it!
